Linda McKenzie is the owner and baker of Messiah’s Cookies. She originally opened Messiah’s in 1995 specializing in customized gift baskets. Many banks, real estate agents, and title companies purchased her products for their clients. Linda soon landed a corporate account with Kinko’s which placed orders for gift baskets for their clients and stores across the country.

 

Linda eventually bought out a wholesale bakery, purchased a mobile coffee cart, and became the first food facility at California State University, Channel Islands, serving fresh sandwiches, soup, salads, baked goods, espresso, and smoothie drinks to faculty, staff, and students on campus. The bakery made thousands of gift baskets that were distributed worldwide. Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Smart & Final, Haas Automation, Nordstrom, Sodexho Marriott, and FedEx Kinkos were a few of the hundreds of clients served by Messiah’s Cookies.

 

In 2005, Linda made one of the toughest decisions of her career, choosing to phase out the company to care for her children. However, she never stopped baking and enjoyed giving loved ones freshly baked cookies during the holidays. The Covid pandemic sparked a desire to reopen Messiah’s and leave a legacy for her children to continue. With the support of her family, Linda is happy to say that Messiah’s is back! And it is better! We still use the very best ingredients, and now make our own homemade vanilla extract!
